Benefits of the Victim Impact Panel

DWI-classess

Restorative Justice

Victim Impact Panels (VIP) are a key component of restorative justice, aimed at healing the harm caused by impaired driving. These sessions bring together victims, offenders, and the community, allowing victims to share their stories and contribute to a process of emotional resolution. At the same time, offenders are encouraged to reflect on their actions, fostering accountability and awareness.

DWI-classess

Raising Awareness

This class educates participants on the real-world consequences of impaired or reckless behavior. Through personal stories shared by victims, attendees gain a clearer understanding of how lives are affected. This emotional connection helps build empathy and motivates behavioral change to prevent future offenses.

DWI-classess

Promoting Accountability

Attending a Victim Impact Panel online puts offenders face-to-face—virtually—with the very real pain their actions can cause. Hearing these experiences helps participants take ownership of their decisions and develop a stronger sense of personal responsibility.

DWI-classess

Empowering Victims

These panels provide a safe and supportive space for victims to speak out. Sharing their stories not only sheds light on the emotional, physical, and financial impact of crime, but also helps victims reclaim their voice and power in the healing process.

Both Jai and Haley are very passionate about teaching this program. There is alot of helpful information in the form of a workbook and videos. Even though some of the information is several years old (like statistics) you are able to understand how serious drinking/ drug use and driving can effect your life and all the people around you. The program helps you to understand why you might relapse and ways to prevent future incidents.

Wasn't looking forward to the class, but with that said I was pleasantly surprised. I actually enjoyed the class and found it to be very informative. Our instructor John was very informative and did an outstanding job making everyone feel comfortable. There was no one from instructor or classmates looking down or talking down to anyone. Thank you John and I don't want to forget to thank Lori for walking us through this process and always being there for us.

I took both the Drug offender program and the alcohol one for probation requirements and both instructors were really informative. John is an amazing guy with a sense of humor who also cares a lot about his class. Haley is also a very good instructor and her backstory being a former drug user makes the class more personal because she genuinely cares about helping people. I recommend the Alamo center for these classes because they’re informative, quick, and you can learn from the comfort of your own home. Thank you both 🙂

John is a great instructor! What made it great is that we got to interact with each other and it wasn’t just a bunch of slides and videos. There was a lot of discussion and I like that better. 10/10 recommend

I believe this is a great stepping stone for many people on the effects of drug and alcohol use that many may not have considered. The information could be updated as it is from 2011. Despite this, the overall presentation was very informative and helpful in giving some background to laws, regulations, and the actual affects drug and alcohol abuse has had on individuals in the class.
